I still remember the day clearly—the day that started off like any other and ended up turning my life upside down. My name is Jennifer, and I thought I knew everything about my husband, Oliver. But that all changed one evening when I stumbled across an email that would unravel everything.

It was a typical movie night, and I was sitting on the couch when I noticed that Oliver had left his laptop open on the coffee table. The screen lit up, and I saw an email from his office about a New Year’s party. The subject line read, “Dear Mr. Oliver, We are happy to announce our New Year’s party is coming up! Dress code: White Party. You may bring your plus-one (your wife).”

I was confused. Oliver’s company was strict about the “no guests” rule at these events, so I didn’t understand why this email was addressed to him like this. I glanced over at Oliver, who had just returned from the bathroom.
