In a highly publicized and emotionally charged custody battle, California father Harrison Tinsley has been granted full custody of his four-year-old son, Sawyer, following a lengthy legal dispute with the child’s mother.
The case gained widespread attention due to its controversial nature, as Tinsley accused Sawyer’s mother—who identifies as non-binary and lesbian—of attempting to raise their child as non-binary against his wishes. Despite presenting key evidence, including police body camera footage, the court initially ruled in favor of the mother. However, upon appeal, San Francisco’s Child Protective Services (CPS) conducted an investigation and ultimately recommended that Tinsley be granted full custody.

“His mom tried to paint me as a right-wing extremist, but I’m just a Californian guy with long hair and skinny jeans,” Tinsley said.
Now that Sawyer lives with him full-time, Tinsley describes their relationship as incredibly close.
“My son is my best friend and my greatest blessing. Kids shouldn’t have to deal with adult ideologies. They should just be able to play, laugh, and enjoy childhood,” he emphasized.
