A second woman has come forward claiming she could be Madeleine McCann, the British toddler whose disappearance from a Portuguese resort in 2007 captured international headlines and became one of the most haunting unsolved mysteries of our time.

Now, nearly two decades later, hope and heartbreak continue to fuel public fascination. And occasionally, women step forward, claiming they might be the missing girl — often triggering waves of media coverage, skepticism, and renewed interest in the case.
A Familiar Pattern Repeats
In 2023, Polish-born Julia Wandelt made international headlines with her claim that she was Madeleine. Her story captivated many after she pointed out resemblances to Madeleine and even underwent a DNA test to try to prove a biological link to the McCann family. However, her credibility was called into question, and she was later arrested in the UK on charges of stalking Madeleine’s parents.
Now, a new figure has emerged: 22-year-old Eugenea Collins, from Arkansas, USA, who says she suspects she could be Madeleine due to lifelong confusion around her identity and a lack of official documentation.

Speaking with MailOnline, Collins explained the moment she began questioning everything she knew about her past:
“I am unable to get any kind of identification. I couldn’t even get any help from the people at the Red Cross when my house was burned because I have no identification.”
She says she’s never seen a valid birth certificate with her name on it — only a document where another name was scratched out and hers handwritten in its place.
Her claims have stirred discussion online, with many expressing skepticism, especially over a missing detail: Madeleine McCann’s distinctive eye condition, known as coloboma — a rare defect that gave her right eye a unique appearance.
“She doesn’t have the eye scar,” one user pointed out on Reddit.
“She’s shown photos of herself as a toddler and there’s no mark,” another agreed.
Even on Instagram, users weighed in, comparing physical features like earlobe shape and eye color, with one person bluntly suggesting:
“More likely to be a woman trying to get an OnlyFans following. She doesn’t have the scar, and Madeleine’s earlobes were detached. Hers are fully attached — that doesn’t change.”
DNA Results and a Bold Claim
In an attempt to support her claims, Collins shared DNA results indicating she has predominantly British and Northwestern European ancestry — a detail that matches Madeleine’s ethnic background but doesn’t confirm any familial link to the McCanns.
More controversially, she says she believes her biological father is none other than Christian Brueckner, the German man who is currently the prime suspect in Madeleine’s disappearance.
“I saw pictures of the suspect and he looks like my biological father — or the man I’ve always been told is my biological father,” Collins said.
“I never had a relationship with him. I was always told he was a little off in the head. But when I first saw his photo, I instantly recognized him.”

So far, there has been no official response from law enforcement or the McCann family regarding Collins’ claims. Given the history of false leads and fabricated stories in the McCann case, skepticism is high.
