Tears Fall as Blake Shelton Grants Terminally Ill Girl’s Last Wish with Heartfelt Song

In March 2025, country star Blake Shelton put his Friends & Heroes tour on hold to fulfill a special request — and in doing so, he created a moment no one in the room would ever forget.

Twelve-year-old Emily Harper, a leukemia patient at the Jimmy Everest Center in Oklahoma, had one wish: to hear Blake Shelton sing her favorite song, “God Gave Me You.”

On March 10, Shelton walked into her hospital room carrying his guitar. In an emotional acoustic set, he performed songs like “Austin” and “Honey Bee,” bringing both smiles and tears to the faces of everyone there. Emily, clutching a teddy bear she had named after Blake, lit up with pure joy.

Blake Shelton has long been known for his big heart, supporting causes from cancer research to disaster relief and music education — but this moment felt especially personal and raw.

Just ten days later, Emily passed away. During a show in Greensboro, Shelton paused to dedicate “God Gave Me You” to her, saying softly, “She’s not with us anymore, but I know she’s up there listening.”

In her final days, Blake gave Emily and her family a gift they would carry forever — a moment of light, love, and lasting comfort.
