A federal judge in Delaware has officially closed the legal case against Hunter Biden, following a full presidential pardon granted earlier in the week.

On Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Maryellen Noreika issued a brief court order ending all proceedings related to the case. The action comes two days after President Joe Biden issued an unconditional pardon to his son, who had previously faced charges involving firearms and taxes.

Legal filings show that prosecutors had initially requested the court to allow the case record to remain intact rather than fully dismissing the indictment. Their reasoning was to preserve the record of the grand jury’s findings and maintain legal transparency. However, the judge determined that the pardon effectively brought the case to an end.

In a related case in California, where Hunter Biden faces separate tax-related charges, a similar dismissal request is under consideration. That case is overseen by U.S. District Judge Mark Scarsi, who has yet to issue a ruling.

Special Counsel David Weiss, who led the prosecution in both cases, acknowledged the pardon but maintained that it did not invalidate the original indictments or the findings of the grand jury. He emphasized that the charges were filed based on sufficient legal grounds and that the pardon represents an act of executive mercy rather than a statement about guilt or innocence.
