Amanda, now 33 and living in Kentucky, lost her son Xavier at 17 due to Potter syndrome, a rare and often fatal condition that affects kidney development. It’s more common in boys, and Amanda was told her chances of having a healthy son were low.
In the years that followed, Amanda and her husband Kyle welcomed two healthy daughters—and in 2022, they had a son, Jay, who was Potter syndrome-free. But her next pregnancy came with another challenge: doctors discovered a serious heart defect in her unborn son, Kyler.
Prayers Before Every Scan
As her pregnancy progressed, Amanda leaned into her faith. Before every ultrasound, she says she would drop to her knees and pray.
“In my prayers, I’ve asked the Lord repeatedly to please keep His hand on my baby.”

A Daughter’s Discovery
Amanda brought her young daughter Bailey to the appointment for comfort. But it was Bailey who noticed something unusual.
“She asked me, ‘Whose hand is that?’”

“It brought me to tears thinking of all God has and continues to do for me.”

Now 36 weeks along, Amanda shared that Kyler is healthy and growing—already over 7 pounds.
“Our chunky boy is going to be the biggest baby I’ve ever had,” she wrote. “I can’t wait to have him in my arms.”
