Barack Obama is setting the record straight—and getting real—about his marriage to Michelle Obama, following years of speculation and divorce rumors.
During a recent appearance at Hamilton College in New York, the former president surprised the crowd with a rare and heartfelt admission about life at home:
“I was in a deep deficit with my wife,” he said, half-joking. “So I’ve been trying to dig myself out of that hole by doing occasionally fun things.”
The audience laughed, but the comment struck a chord. After more than 30 years of marriage—and eight of those years spent under the intense spotlight of the White House—the Obamas have always been open about the ups and downs of their relationship.
A Presidential Marriage, Under Pressure
