DOJ Concludes Classified Document Inquiry Into President Biden — No Charges Filed

The U.S. Department of Justice has completed its investigation into President Joe Biden’s handling of classified documents and has decided not to file any charges. While no legal action will be taken, a formal report is expected to include critiques of how the documents were managed.

The investigation, led by Special Counsel Robert Hur, focused on documents from Biden’s time as vice president. These materials were discovered in 2022 at two locations: his personal residence in Delaware and a private office in Washington, D.C.

According to officials, the president and his staff cooperated with authorities by voluntarily returning the documents and allowing searches of relevant locations. The official report, which could be released soon, may include photographs and other details that illustrate how the materials were stored.

The Justice Department’s findings relieve a significant burden ahead of the president’s re-election efforts, although public reaction may vary depending on what the full report reveals.

This case follows a similar review involving former Vice President Mike Pence, who also faced questions about classified documents. That investigation was also closed without charges.

Separately, an ongoing federal case continues involving former President Donald Trump’s handling of government records after leaving office. That case remains active, and updates are expected through the year.

The outcome of Biden’s case reinforces a broader conversation about how classified information is handled by high-level government officials and how those situations are investigated.

A Justice Department spokesperson has not yet confirmed the exact date the full report will be made public.
