In a significant development involving recent acts of violent property damage, the Department of Justice has charged Jamison R. Wagner, 40, in connection with two major incidents: the vandalism of a Tesla dealership in Bernalillo, New Mexico, and an arson attack on a local office building in Albuquerque. The charges, unsealed Monday, are part of an ongoing federal crackdown on domestic terrorism targeting high-profile businesses and organizations.
Vandalism and Arson Details
Wagner is accused of setting fire to the entrance of a building in Albuquerque, causing significant structural and smoke damage. Nearby, authorities discovered graffiti reading “ICE = KKK,” a slogan also found during a separate February incident at the Tesla dealership. In that attack, Wagner allegedly torched two Tesla Model Y vehicles and defaced them with disturbing graffiti, including swastikas and anti-Tesla messages.
These coordinated attacks have sparked federal concern due to their violent nature and the damage inflicted on both private and commercial properties.
Federal Response to Targeted Violence
Federal officials have described the incidents as part of a broader surge in violent acts against Tesla-related sites and infrastructure. The Department of Justice has responded by enhancing investigative efforts and reinforcing its stance against domestic terrorism.
Attorney General Pam Bondi stated that the federal government is taking these threats seriously, emphasizing law enforcement’s commitment to protecting public and commercial safety. Authorities have pledged to pursue those responsible for such attacks without leniency.
Evidence and Arrest
During a search of Wagner’s home and garage, agents recovered eight suspected incendiary devices, black and red spray paint, and a stencil reading “ICE = KKK,” believed to have been used in both incidents. Wagner is currently in custody pending a detention hearing. His legal representation has not issued a public statement.
A Growing Threat
Wagner is not the only person facing legal action. The Justice Department has announced similar charges in at least four other cases involving attacks on Tesla facilities, including the use of Molotov cocktails. As a result, the FBI has formed a specialized task force in coordination with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) to identify and apprehend individuals responsible for these acts.
The FBI has issued a public alert, urging vigilance and reporting of suspicious activity around Tesla properties and other infrastructure.
