Man in Custody After Threats Against Former President Lead to Federal Arrest
A 54-year-old man has been arrested and is currently in federal custody following a reported written threat against former President Donald Trump, according to a statement from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
The individual, identified as Ramon Morales-Reyes, was detained on May 22 by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Wisconsin after reportedly sending a letter that included a detailed threat. DHS officials confirmed that Morales-Reyes is being held at Dodge County Jail while awaiting deportation proceedings.
Authorities say Morales-Reyes has a history of entering the United States unlawfully, with at least nine instances recorded between 1998 and 2005. In addition, his criminal background includes prior charges such as felony hit-and-run, property damage, and disorderly conduct.
The alleged letter described a plan to target the former president at a public event, prompting law enforcement action. Federal authorities continue to assess any potential risks associated with the case.
Officials have used the incident to highlight ongoing concerns about threats made toward public figures and the security challenges they present. DHS emphasized the importance of monitoring such threats and maintaining appropriate protective measures.
