Texas Teen Charged in Fatal Stabbing Released to Luxury House Arrest Sparking Outrage

Frisco, TX – A Texas community is reeling after 17-year-old Karmelo Anthony, charged with the fatal stabbing of local track star Austin Metcalf, was released from jail and placed under house arrest in a high-end gated neighborhood.

The move came after a judge reduced his bond from $1 million to $250,000, allowing Karmelo to leave jail and live in a $3,500-a-month rental home just minutes from his former high school.

Public Backlash Over Bond Reduction

The decision has sparked strong reactions—especially since Karmelo’s family had previously claimed financial hardship, yet now resides in a luxury rental. Meanwhile, public donations to the family have reportedly exceeded $440,000, further raising questions.

Neighbors have voiced concerns about safety and questioned whether justice is being served fairly.

Tragic Incident at School Track Meet

The stabbing happened on April 2, during a high school track meet. Witnesses say an argument escalated quickly, ending with Karmelo allegedly stabbing Austin once in the chest.

Karmelo reportedly told police: “I did it,” and claimed self-defense. The heartbreaking moment ended with Austin dying in his twin brother’s arms.

What’s Next?

Karmelo is currently under house arrest with an electronic ankle monitor. He’s allowed to travel only with court approval.

He is facing a murder charge and could receive up to 99 years in prison if convicted.

Community in Mourning

The death of Austin Metcalf has left the Frisco community heartbroken. Vigils and fundraisers have been held in his honor, as friends, family, and neighbors mourn a young life lost far too soon.

Meanwhile, many are watching the legal case closely, questioning whether the justice system is working equally for everyone.
