He Ate 700 Eggs in One Month—Here’s What Happened to His Body

Let’s be honest: most of us have tried a new diet or food trend at some point—maybe to lose a few pounds, get healthier, or just out of curiosity. But chances are you’ve never taken it as far as Dr. Nick Norwitz.

Dr. Norwitz, a metabolic health researcher and YouTuber, took the internet by storm after he set out to eat 700 eggs in 30 days. Yes, you read that right. That’s 24 eggs a day. Basically, an egg every hour.

So why did he do it? And what happened to his body afterward? Let’s crack this story open.

Why 700 Eggs?

Dr. Norwitz’s goal wasn’t just to go viral or break a world record. He wanted to challenge what many of us have been taught for years: that eating foods high in cholesterol (like eggs) is bad for your heart.

Growing up, many of us were warned that cholesterol = clogged arteries. But Dr. Norwitz believed otherwise. He wanted to prove that consuming lots of cholesterol from food wouldn’t necessarily raise blood cholesterol levels — particularly LDL cholesterol, often labeled as the “bad” kind.

So, he dove headfirst into this wild experiment — one that involved downing 24 eggs a day for an entire month.

What Happened to His Cholesterol?

You’d think his cholesterol levels would skyrocket, right?

Surprisingly, the opposite happened.

  • After two weeks: LDL cholesterol dropped by 2%
  • After four weeks: It dropped by 18%

Instead of spiking, his levels went down — especially after he added fruits and carbs like bananas, blueberries, and strawberries to the mix.

So, what’s the explanation?

Dr. Norwitz believes the liver’s cholesterol production adjusts based on what you eat. When he added carbs, it seemed to balance out the effects of the egg-heavy diet. “The extra dose of carbs dominated over the insane amounts of cholesterol I was consuming,” he explained.

So… Are Eggs Off the Hook?

Hold up — before you run to the store and buy out the egg aisle, remember: this was a personal experiment done by a trained researcher who monitored his health carefully. It’s not something doctors recommend the average person try at home.

Still, the results were interesting. They suggest that our bodies might respond to cholesterol in more complex ways than we used to think. And it definitely opens the door to more questions about how diet really affects cholesterol and heart health.

Would You Try It?

Have you ever taken on a food challenge? Tried a wild diet just to see what would happen? Let us know!

But maybe skip the 24-eggs-a-day thing unless you’ve got a doctor’s green light—and a serious love for omelets.
