Don’t Miss the Golden Glow of June’s Strawberry Moon—A Rare Celestial Treat!

Get ready for a breathtaking sky show! On the night of June 10, the Strawberry Moon will rise, offering a golden glow and marking the final full moon of spring—or the first of summer, depending on where you live. This is the sixth full moon of 2025, and it’s one you won’t want to miss.

The best time to catch it? Just after sunset on June 10, with the moon reaching its full peak at 3:44 A.M. ET on June 11.

The name “Strawberry Moon” doesn’t come from its color, but rather from the traditional June strawberry harvest. Indigenous communities also call it the Hatching Moon or Birth Moon, while in Europe, it’s often known as the Rose Moon or Honey Moon.

This year’s Strawberry Moon is extra special—it will rise unusually low in the sky, the lowest it’s been in the Northern Hemisphere since 2006. That low position gives it a warm, golden hue—a natural optical illusion caused by the Earth’s atmosphere.

For the best view, head to a dark, high spot with a clear view of the eastern horizon. While binoculars or telescopes can show you more detail, this moon is beautiful with the naked eye, especially if you’re patient and let your eyes adjust to the dark.

If you happen to be in the South Pacific region, you’ll get a bonus: the moon will briefly hide (or “occult”) the bright star Antares, adding a rare twist to this already magical night.

So mark your calendar, grab a blanket, and enjoy nature’s spotlight in the sky!
