Dr. Bhattacharya, a professor at Stanford University and a public critic of past pandemic policies, was recently involved in a Supreme Court case over government involvement in social media moderation. While the court ruled against his position in Murthy v. Missouri, his nomination to a leadership role has sparked discussion about the future direction of public health research and policy.
