Mom of Twins with Down Syndrome Shuts Down Critics with Powerful Response

In the world of social media, it’s all too easy to find negative comments and judgment. But Savannah Combs, a mother from Middleburg, Florida, has found a powerful way to silence her critics and share her love for her twin daughters, Kennadi Rue and Mckenli Ackerman, who were both born with Down syndrome.

Savannah, 23, and her husband Justin Ackerman were thrilled when they found out they were expecting twins. However, the excitement soon turned to shock when they learned that both girls had Down syndrome. Despite the challenges, Savannah and Justin decided to embrace their daughters’ condition and give them every opportunity to thrive.

In a heartfelt TikTok video, Savannah shared how, during her pregnancy, she was told that she should abort the babies because they wouldn’t survive or have a meaningful life. However, Savannah and Justin refused to give up on their daughters. “Every [prenatal] appointment they were alive was a blessing to me,” Savannah shared.

The twins, who are “mono-di twins” (identical twins that share a placenta but have separate sacs), were born prematurely on May 12, 2021, at just 29 weeks. They spent several weeks in the NICU before finally going home. Savannah describes them as “feisty” and “happy,” showing that they are just like any other children, despite their rare condition.

“They have feelings. They have a beating heart. They know how to talk. They know how to do things you do. They will get there,” Savannah said with pride. “It may be a step behind, but they’re going to do it.”

As Savannah continues to share their journey on TikTok, she proudly updates her followers on their milestones. However, not all responses have been positive. Some people, unfortunately, have made cruel and insensitive comments about her daughters.

One such comment on social media read, “I wouldn’t want those babies; if mine came out like that, they would be straight up for adoption.”

Savannah’s response was nothing short of powerful:

“I said, good thing they weren’t born to you and were born to me. God knew what he was doing by giving these babies to the right parents who would love them regardless.”

Savannah’s response not only shut down the negativity but also showcased the deep love and devotion she has for her daughters. Despite the rare challenges they face, Savannah believes that her twins are perfect in their own way and that they will thrive with time.

The twins are a testament to resilience and love, and Savannah’s unwavering support for them is truly inspiring. As she continues to share her family’s journey, it’s clear that her daughters are not just “special” – they are loved, cherished, and valued just as much as any other child.

Please share this heartwarming story with your friends to spread positivity and show your support for families like Savannah’s!
